I had the best time reading both of Jenny Han’s romance trilogy, and I have got to admit that she can write up a dreamy man like no one else. From the charisma of Peter Kavinsky to the brooding Conrad Fisher, a swoony romance is created with a well-developed female lead.

Overall, the sexual content in these books is minimal. There is discussion of sex and desires to have sex, but neither series contains a graphic or descriptive sexual scene. The third book in the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before trilogy contains the most sexual innuendo and references to sex and the third book in The Summer I turned Pretty trilogy is the same. Both series contain swear words, but it is minimal and appropriately used.

The trilogies are strictly romance novels, so it should be taken into consideration by the reader that the relationships in these books are broken so references to cheating, divorce, and breakups are a common theme. The romantic relationships in these books are not the healthiest or the best display of love, and it is up to the discretion of the parent to decide what is appropriate for younger teens. However, the drama, characters, romance and story will keep any reader entertained!

Personally, I would recommend these books for teens 15+ since overtly romantic books that contain a degree of unrealism as well as moral reservations, so they may not be appropriate for preteens. My personal favorite of trilogies is To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before because who can resist Peter Kavinsky!
